Whale Watching Panama offers full day whale watching tours from Panama City to both the Pearl Islands where we see the Humpback whales on 99% of our trips and to the nearby Isla Taboga area where we see the whales 80% of our trips. Humpback whale watching season is July 1st - October 15th each year. We have dolphins year round. We also offer 3 hour, Kayak with the whales, full day and multiple day whale watching and dolphin tours from Contadora Island in the Pearl Islands.
Whale Watching Panama is the first and only whale watching tour company in the country of Panama. We are dedicated to providing responsible, educational and fun whale and dolphin tours. Our guides are all experts on whales and dolphins and love to share their passion and knowledge about the whales and dolphins with our clients.
All of our tours include an expert guide, hydrophone to listen to the whales, soft drinks and water and snacks on board the boat.
1 day trip from Panama City to the Pearl Islands
The Pearl islands are located about 35 miles South of Panama city. We will leave Panama city around 8:00 am and head straight out towards the Pearl islands looking for whales and dolphins the entire time. We can stop and snorkel at a reef area also in the Pearls and have lunch on Contadora island at a local restaurant before we head back to Panama city, arriving around 5:00 pm. We have a 99% chance of seeing whales on this tour.
On Saturdays and Sundays the price of this tour is a guaranteed $200.00/adult and $100.00/child 5-12 years old.

1 day trip from Panama City to the Isla Taboga area
Isla Taboga, is a nearby island, 12 miles from Panama city, with an interesting history. We head out from the city around 8:30 am and look for whales on the back side of Taboga and surrounding area. We will then stop by Isla Taboga for lunch at a local restaurant French artist Gaugin lived, and then head back out to the whales and dolphins before arriving back in the city around 4:00 pm. We have an 85% chance of seeing whales on this tour.

3 hour Whale Watching tour (from Contadora only)
We start out from Playa Galeon (where the ferries arrive) at 10:00 am (or as soon as the last ferry has arrived) in search of the whales. Often times we have already spotted the whales while standing on the beach! We spend 3 hours out with the whales and possibly dolphins. For these tours, we like to support the local fishermen who have turned to tourism for their sole source of income. We go out with one of them in their local panga style boats. These boats are very safe and these locals were born and raised fishing in these waters. We return to the beach at 1:00 pm. This tour is perfect for people coming out to Contadora for the day only.
Price $50.00 per adult*, children 5-12 half price and kids under 5 are free.
* 4 person minimum- we can go with less people, but to cover costs we must charge for 4 people

From Contadora island in the Pearl islands, we take either a 44’ catamaran sailboat or a glass bottom boat (can be your choice, subject to availability) out for a relaxed day of whale watching. The whales are often seen before we even leave the beach on Contadora! This tour includes lunch. We can also stop on any of the other nearby islands for some beach time, snorkeling or swim.

Sunrise Wildlife Tour (from Contadora only)
Spend a beautiful morning on the sea observing key Blue footed booby, Magnificent frigate bird and Brown pelican nesting areas. We will also look for marine mammals such as Humpback whales and dolphins. We may even spot some sea turtles, jumping sting rays and other marine life. We begin our tour at 7:00 am when the sea is normally very quiet and few other boats will be around. We return at 9:30 am so you can enjoy a leisurely day on the island. Sunset with the Whales (from Contadora only)
Sunset is a magical time to observe the whales and dolphins as the light is rich and golden, perfect for spectacular photos. At this time of day the waters are usually calm and we are often the only boat out with the whales. You will set out at 3:30 pm to observe the Humpback whales and possibly dolphins as the sun descends to the West. We return at 6:30 pm filled with incredible memories of your visit with the whales and dolphins.
